May 8 Left Atlanta for Madrid 5:45 pm; Arrived in Madrid on May 9 at 8:35 am.
May 9-11 Stayed at Liabeny Hotel, Salud 3. Visited Museo Thyssen-Bomemisza to see Chagall exhibit, Museo del Prado to see the
Velasquez exhibit; Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sophia to see Picasso's "Guernica" and more
May 12 Left by car for Toledo; stayed at Parador de Toledo; Cerro del Emperador; toured King Philip II's El Escorial and Valley of the Fallen.
May 13 By car to Granada/Alhambra; stayed at Parador de Granada, Real de la Alhambra. Toured the Alhambra. Incredible!
May 14-15 By car to Nerja; stayed at Parador de Nerja, Calle Almunecar, 8. Downtime on beach! Watched Festival of San Isidro in town.
May 16-18 Flew 5:20 pm to Barcelona from Granada; Arrived in Barcelona 6:40 pm. Stayed at Hotel Montblanc, Via Laietana 61.
Highlight: Antoni Gaudi's Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia (Church of the Holy Family) and Cathedral of Barcelona. Favorite
restaurant: Neyraz. Best market: Mercat de la Boqueria.
May 19-22 Flew 11:40 am from Barcelona to Madrid; arrived 1:00 pm; Stayed at Best Western Hotel Mayorazgo, Flor Baja, 3. Spend a day or two
people-watching in Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Spent Sunday in Parque del
Retiro listening to concert, visiting the Palacio de Cristal (Crystal Palace), etc. Saw bullfights at Plaza de Toros (ugh!--medieval!).
May 22 Left Madrid for Atlanta 11:00 am; Arrived Atlanta 2:50 pm May 22
